The Sakura Fan is a pretty, springtime shawl, knitted from side-to-side. It’s large enough that it provides some warmth on those chilly spring days, but light enough to wear as the weather warms up too. Shaped using short rows, and with colour changes that resemble the folds of a fan, it features a scattering of cherry blossoms and beads which spread from one side, and a little petal edging that is worked as you go. A three-needle bind off and icord finish the top edge. It is 47 inches (119cm) across the top, and 27 inches (69cm) deep. The pattern is charted with plenty of written instructions to help you understand the unique construction, and WS rows are purled.
You will need:
- 300m/330yds of colour A (darker shade) and 280m/305yds of colour B (a lighter shade).
- 3.75mm circular needle (shawl is worked back and forth but a circular helps accommodate the stitches and makes the three-needle cast off easier
- 3.75mm dpns (to work icord)
- 168 beads, in two colours if you like (84 to match yarn A and 84 to match yarn B) plus a small crochet hook to place them
- 4 stitch markers
