Salamander Sweater
A simple stockinette stitch raglan sweater for children is spiced up by reverse stockinette salamanders in purl stitches crawling sneakily across front and back: you might not notice them at first (they were pretty much impossible to photograph on a blocked garment), but they are there. You can, of course, use the salamander as an intarsia motif, should you be so inclined. Or if you only want a basic raglan, don’t make any salamanders at all.
The Salamander Sweater is worked in the round from the bottom up. Sleeves are worked separately, also in the round. During the raglan decreases work is divided at the yoke for button band and worked back and forth to the end. Seaming is needed only at the underarms.
