The Gansey-inspired Salmon Brook Cap begins with generous ribbing before combining all-over texture and cables in a classic style. This unisex hat can be worn like a watch cap with the brim folded or slouchy with the brim unfolded.
Pattern Info
Size:
One size fits an average head – the ribbing is elastic enough to hug a smaller head, but stretchy enough for most.
(finished hat measures 18” around at widest point – above ribbing, unstretched)
Materials:
Fingering weight yarn – approximately 260 yards for pattern as written.
Gray hat is Erika Knight WOOL LOCAL (100g/492yds)
Rust hat is Berroco ULTRA WOOL FINE (100g/400yds)
Needles:
Size 2 (2.75mm), 16” circular needle for ribbing
Size 4 (3.5mm), 16” and double pointed needles for body of hat.
OR size to get gauge.
Gauge:
One full charted pattern repeat(25 sts) = 3” before blocking
