Salmon Ladders
Keep this fun and easy pattern in your back pocket – just in case! The large eyelets are perfect for weaving in ribbon, yarn or anything else you can think of. Imagine the textures you could add to your project with a column or two of Salmon Ladders in a scarf, sweater or blanket! This stitch pattern is quickly memorized; you won’t need the instructions for long. The double yarn overs are worked as 2 stitches in the next row: knit first loop, purl second loop.
This pattern has a 6-stitch, 2-row repeat with 2 selvage stitches on each side. The swatch is 4.5 inches square. Aunt Lydia’s Classic 10 color is “Wasabi”. It will take about 1 hour to knit 3.5 inches of a 40-stitch-wide swatch.
Skills needed: cast on, knit, purl, double yarn over, k2tog, SSK and bind off in knit stitch.
Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.
60 yards of #10 crochet thread will make 10 inches of a 40-stitch-wide strip in the stated gauge.
