Salmon River Fingerless Gloves
Use that single, fun colored, bulky weight ball/skein in your stash. Design works especially well with self-striping or variegated yarns.
These fingerless gloves are fun to knit. Short rows make for an interesting construction, and it will definitely keep you interested. The gloves are knit flat because it is too fiddly to knit in the round. Then they are seamed using garter stitch seaming. Garter stitch seaming is virtually invisible and has absolutely no bulky seams, look for a tutorial link in pattern.
An adventurous beginner can most likely knit this design.
