Salt Spring Sweater

About this Pattern
This sweater’s simple-looking appearance is deceptive. Lots of details like slipped stitches, short-rows, I-cord edging, and a turned picot hem and cuff will keep you engaged and interested. Worked in DK weight yarn with a scrap of pretty fingering weight yarn for the turned hem and cuff. Choose a yarn with some linen for drape. This is a sweater that will carry through all the seasons. (Sample worked in Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool in “grey.”)

Pattern Notes
Body and sleeves are worked seamlessly from the bottom-up and joined at the underarms. Cuff and hem feature a turned picot hem in CC. Short-rows and slipped stitch back darts give some shape and visual interest to the A-line body. Upper body is worked with a series of decreases and joined at the shoulders with a three needle bind-off. Armhole shaping is based on Elizabeth Zimmerman’s “seamless set-in-sleeve” method. The V-neck is finished with an applied I-cord.
