This is the second in my cowl foray, commemorating my parent’s travels. Introducing Salute Marlena, a perfect all-season cowl or wrap – worn around the neck or slipped over the shoulders, to take off the chill. It’s my go-to piece for dealing with summer air conditioning. Worked in cotton, in Waterfall lace (a 4-5 stitch by 6 row repeat), the resulting fabric is rich, flexible, and wonderfully elastic. Its one-size-fits-all dimensions satisfy a range of measurements, while the extended rib at the neckline keeps things sitting snuggly at the shoulders. This design is worked from the top down, in the round, with gradual increases embedded in the pattern of its lace.
