Is there anything more reminiscent of autumn than a cozy fish sweater?! Channel the vintage sweaters of catalogs past and make your own sweater with a modern fit. Delightfully oversized to provide lots of room for full range of motion as you cast into the nearest body of water, but fitted enough to prevent hooking yourself as you tie another fly on. This sweater features a crewneck to keep the autumn wind off your back and a split hem so it fits smoothly at the hip. Knit with two strands of fingering weight yarn that gives a lofty gauge that will stand up to all your cold weather adventures. The name (Salvelinus) comes from the genus of the brook trout, which is the fish featured in this design. A blank chart is included in the pattern so you can customize your sweater with your own favorite fish!

Yarn
This pattern uses fingering weight yarn held double. You may also be able to use a DK weight yarn held single, just make sure to check your gauge! If you’d like to use a single strand of DK yarn, divide the estimate below by half. The fish motif is great for using up scraps or mini skeins.

Not a fish fan?
I have included a blank chart on the last 2 pages of the pattern so that you have the option to create your own design. I have also knit this pattern using a strand of fingering and a strand of mohair for a wonderfully cozy and light fall sweater, no fish design needed!
