Samhain, pronounced Sow-in, is the Celtic festival celebrating the end of the harvest and the start of winter. It is also the origin of our modern-day Halloween, a time when the wall between the human world and the spirit world became thin and allowed the spirits and fairies to pass into our world. This design is inspired by the bonfires that were lit to ward off the evil spirits, resulting in a modern cowl, shaped using short-row crochet. Three color combinations are presented: Samhain colors are red, white, and orange against a dark tweed background, Two-Tone uses only two colors for a clean look, and the Remnant Buster uses up bits of different colored yarn against an offset color background. The cowl is made with a total of 280 yards of worsted weight yarn.
