Inspired by the design of traditional embroidered samplers.

The borders are knitted in moss (seed) stitch and the main panel in stocking stitch using intarsia and stranded techniques. The pattern includes letter and number charts and blank pattern charts with instructions for adding a name and birthdate in place of the last two rows of letters at the bottom of the blanket.

The blanket can be knitted in any aran/ worsted weight yarn on 5mm needles. The blanket illustrated was worked in Stylecraft Special Aran 100g balls:
3 balls Parchment (shade 1218)
1 ball of each of the following: Pale rose (shade 1080); Meadow (shade 1065); Cream (shade 1005); Copper (shade 1029); Graphite (shade 1063); Dark brown (shade 1004); Khaki (shade 1027)
Oddments of Storm blue (shade 1722); Lavender (shade 1188)

It measures approximately 90 x 64 cm (36 x 25 inches) at a gauge of 17 sts and 24 rows to 10cm measured over stocking stitch.
