To knit this baby “Samuel” cardigan sweater, coat or jacket I used 108g of DK yarn for 3-6m size. You will need more or less yarn depending on the size that you’re making. You can also use any yarn with similar weight like #3 or 8ply yarns with an approx. thickness of 3mm.

  • This easy knit cardigan sweater pattern is for baby boys and girls and can be knit using straight needles almost seamlessly. You start at the neckline, make the yoke, make the first sleeve then the second sleeve and last the body. I used five 10mm size buttons for the 3-6M size.

This baby knit baby cardigan coat can be made smaller or bigger by simply using bigger or smaller needle size along with different yarn weight from NB and up to 2-3Y. This simple and effective technique of making an item smaller or bigger works perfectly in knitting or crochet because in standard size measurements, the difference between the different sizes is only about 1-2in (2-5cm). By simply changing your hook or needle size you will achieve this size difference all around. One thing to keep in mind though, tension does vary from person to person which can affect the final size. Measurements are available at the end of the tutorial for 3-6m size only.
