The bag is flat--2 panels that get sewn together. The first panel is knitted and has the main colorwork and the second panel can also be knit or it can be denim, like, I made cut-offs and had the fabric from the leg of my jeans just sitting around, so i used that for Panel 2. The directions in the pattern are set up so the panel can be made either way.
The colorwork on Panel 1 is charted and pretty simple; only one row is intarsia (it uses 3 colors), but the rest us all 2 colors per row.
