Sana Sana Colita de Rana was a common saying where I live when I was growing up. It is actually a whole little poem that my grandmother and mother would recite to us kids whenever we got sick. We would be tucked into our warmest blankets, given our little drinks of meds, and vapor rub was massaged onto our backs and chests while the caregiver recited these words of comfort. It was also used to sooth bumps and bruises- so an all around phrase for healing and comfort. It literally translates from Spanish to: Heal, heal, little frog’s tail! It doesn’t really translate well, but I definitely have so many memories of hearing the whole poem throughout my childhood and they are still soothing words of comfort I like to be nostalgic about!
