Sandborton
Using two colors of Plymouth Linaza, we have two options for this pattern - you can make a long cowl or you can keep working and have a shawl/wrap/scarf. The slipped stitch patterns provide great texture and the variety of stitch patterns make the project fun to knit!
Designer: Estella Haines
Finished Measurements (Blocked): Approximately 13.5” wide by 70” long for the shawl/wrap scarf. Approximately 13.5” wide and 40” in circumference for cowl.
This pattern was originally featured as our first Mystery KAL.
Get ready for the first mystery knitalong from Cobblestone Designs. There will be five clues, and every clue will feature two stitch patterns to keep you interested and learning.
What do I get?
You will receive the full pattern on May 24th with the release of the final update. When purchasing before the start date of April 26th you will not receive a pattern, the download is just description of the project including yardage and gauge.
Cast on will start on April 26th when the first clue is delivered, in the meantime have fun picking out your yarn combinations.
Until April 26th the price is $5.00, on April 27th it will rise to $6.50.
When will I get the next clue?
The schedule for clues is as follows:
Apr 26 — clue 1
May 3 — clue 2
May 10 — clue 3
May 17— clue 4
May 24 — clue 5
You’ll receive a PM in your Ravelry inbox and an email when the update is ready to download (you may wish to turn on Ravelry messages if you have them turned off because they aren’t subject to spam filters the way email is).
What yarn should I use?
Our sample was knit using Plymouth Linaza in two colors. While Linaza is classified as a sport weight, it might be closer to a heavy fingering weight. We used size 5 needles to create a fabric with drape.
Sharing the adventure!
Part of the fun of a knitalong is the shared experience with the community. We’ll have two threads running for each clue in the Cobblestone Designs group. One thread for chatting and questions and one for sharing your project photos.
How difficult is it?
Some clues will be easier than others but the overall difficulty level progresses as you work through the project. We start with simpler stitch patterns and as the project grows they become a bit more difficult but not too difficult.
I like the idea but I’m super picky!
The mystery format might not be for you and that’s ok, but here are answers to a couple of common areas of pickiness. We don’t want to give too much of the design away but there is a focus on texture and slipped stitches. We have two options in this KAL - you can make a long cowl or you can keep working and have a shawl/wrap that is approximately 13.5” wide x 70” long.
Maintaining the mystery for everyone
