This is a pattern for an amigurumi sandpiper. Crocheting starts with the head, transitions to the back, and the underside, wings, and legs are constructed separately and attached.

Also I think irl sandpipers have 4 toes instead of 3 (one on the back of the leg?) but I was getting super impatient with figuring out how to make the legs at that point so I just sort of called it good at 3.
