Sandstone Shawl
This pattern is part of the book, The Modern Natural Dyer. In the book, you start with dyeing the yarn. Once the dyebath is made, the first skein of yarn is dyed, 20 minutes later, the next skein is added, and 20 minutes later, the last skein is added. By adding the skeins of yarn in this manner, three different shades of yarn are created.
I designed the Sandstone shawl pattern to show off these slight variations in color - as one color blends into the next.
If you don’t feel up to natural dyeing, that is ok! This is still a fun pattern to knit. Choose three yarns, one skein of each in the following weight: worsted, sport, and lace. Choose either three colors which will shift in color from darkest to lightest. Or, three colors which please you. You can’t go wrong.
Signed copies of The Modern Natural Dyer are available through A Verb for Keeping Warm.
