Sandstorm in an Hourglass is an idea of the storm that is in us, whether it is mental exhaustion, mental illness, pain, sorrow or any kind of feelings we need to hide from the outer world or contain inside our selves.

Couple of years ago I had a nervous breakdown and it was ugly. I tried to keep it from the outside world so I wouldn’t burden anyone. I was raised to be strong and independent, I dealt with my own demons and fought my own fights. Until one day I had no weapons left and my armor was all cracked and dented and didn’t shield me anymore.

I had to reimagine my whole life, other wise I would have died. I had to think what was important, what I wanted to get rid off and what could wait.

The hourglass is has two compartments. You know what that means? It means that you should not be alone with your troubles. There is always someone you can unload upon, even if it is just a tiny grain at a time. Talk to someone; your significant other, family member, professional or someone on the internet. Talk today, one grain at a time.
One grain at a time you will feel better.

These socks were designed for the Progress, Hope and Happiness make-along 2021. I had to skip 2019 and 2020 because of my sandstorm. Sandstorm in an Hourglass is a representation of my inside storms calming leakage to the outside world.

Yarn
A Hundred Ravens Yaksha, 400 m (437 yards) / 100 g. 70% Merino, 20 % Yak, 10% Nylon. Color blue.

Needles
A set of 5 dpn’s or minimum of 80 cm long circular needle for magic loop,
size 2.75 mm (US 2)

Gauge
33 st and 48 rows = 10 cm (4 inch) in St st in the round, without any stretch.
