Slip stitches form layers of color on this simple pullover that resemble bricks or stacked stones. Long before humans had the technology for brickmaking, they created walls by piling stones atop each other in a staggered pattern. People have lived on Mainland Orkney for a very long time, and 5,000 years ago they built a small village in what is now the parish of Sandwick.
