Sandy Cardigan
The Sandy Cardigan is an easy-to-wear wardrobe staple with a pretty allover boxy lace pattern. It’s perfect to take with you when you know you might be subject to some serious air-conditioning.
Difficulty Intermediate
Finished Size 18.25 (19.75, 21.25, 23.25, 26.25, 28.25)“ back width. Cardigan shown measures 19.75” on model with 32.5” bust.
Yarn Purl Soho Cattail Silk (100% silk; 618 yd / 3.5 oz): #8020 wood mouse, 2 (2, 3, 3, 3, 4) skeins.
Needles Size 2.5 (3 mm): 32” circular and set of double-pointed. Sizes 3 (3.25 mm), 4 (3.5 mm), 5 (3.75 mm), and 6 (4 mm): 32” circular. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions Marker; stitch holders; tapestry needle.
Gauge 21 sts and 33 rows = 4” in patt on size 6 needle; 24 sts and 40 rows = 4” in patt on size 3 needle.
Notes The body of this cardigan is worked back and forth in one piece to the underarm, then fronts and back are worked separately. A circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of stitches.
