Materials
❖ 175 (275, 350) yards of a weight 4 yarn or yarn needed to meet gauge (I
used Lion Brand Mandala Ombre in Joy)
❖ 4mm hook
❖ Tapestry needle to weave in ends
Abbreviations
Sc: single crochet
Inc: sc twice into the same stitch
Hdc: half double crochet
Hdc Inc: hdc twice into the same stitch
Dc: Double crochet
Dc inc: Dc twice into the same stitch
Ch: chain
MR: magic ring
FO: fasten off
Ss: slip stitch
Shell: Work 5 double crochets into the same stitch
Sk: skip x stitches/chains
Notes:
❖ The top of the hat is worked in continuous rows until stated that the rows will be joined (base of hat)
❖ “Shell” refers to 5 Dc. Row counts refer to the 5 Dc stitches NOT the number of shells.
❖ Finished Measurements: Kids: 20’’ around, 7.5’’ tall. Adult Small: 22’’ around, 8’’ tall. Adult Large: 24’’ around, 8.75’’ tall
❖ Everyone is different and that includes the size of their head. You may need to add extra rows to your hat to get the perfect fit ☺
