This pattern DOES NOT specify specific size instructions. The same pattern can be used for a preemie to an adult; it is simply a matter of when you stop crocheting.

It is advantageous to know the head circumference of the person for whom the hat is being made, but without the information the pattern may still be used in conjunction with:

Standard Head Circumferences Chart and Circumference Calulator

All you need to do is decided which size you need from the chart, insert the circumference into the calculator to determine the diameter and then crochet until you reach the desired diameter, which can be determined by folding the hat in half and measuring across the opening.
