Santa Fe
The charts in this pattern are the same for all sizes,
it all depends on your choice of yarn.
NOTE: You get the pattern in both Norwegian and English by downloading it here on Ravelry
For small I suggest a sport weight yarn or baby wool and
5 dpns #1.
About 60 grams peach, 40 grams rust and 10 grams turquoise (sorry, no color number for this). Gauge: 2 x 2” (5 x 5 cm) = 19 sts x 21 rows in pattern. 9 1/2“ long and about 4” wide.
For medium, Rauma Finullgarn and 5 dpns #2.
About 50 grams rust #434, 30 grams black # 436 and 10 grams turquoise # 483
Gauge: 2 x 2” (5 x 5 cm) = 16 sts x 17 rows in pattern. 11“ long and about 4 1/2” wide.
For large, Cascade 220 wool Superwash and 5 dpns #2.
About 80 grams rust #858, 60 grams black # 815 and 10 grams turquoise # 812.
Gauge: 2 x 2” (5 x 5 cm) = 15 sts x 16 rows in pattern. 11 1/2“ long and about 4 3/4” wide.
I also have a suggestion about how to rework the diagram for a man size mitten (intermediate to experienced).
I love New Mexico. It is so inspiring walking the streets of Santa Fe, Albuquerque and Taos,
studying the architecture, the old churches, the people, the wide range of artists, the nature, the colors, the history.
