For walking in a winter wonderland…

The Santamental Socks are the perfect holiday gift for loved ones. Designed with the wooly and budget-friendly Drops Karima, these are both inexpensive and quick to knit. I made my pair up over a weekend.

This pattern features a tubular cast-on, relaxing moss stitch and a classic heel flap design making them the perfect Christmas sock. It is written for the magic loop method but you could easily follow along using DPNs or any other technique.

Sizes range from Small, (Medium, Large) and were designed to fit a foot circumference of 7” (8”, 9”). These socks have a negative ease of approximately 1”. To choose your size, measure your foot circumference at the largest point and choose the size that is 1” smaller.

The sample (knit in size small) used less than 1 skein for each sock using Drops Karisma in colours 01 (off white) and 18 (red uni). You can substitute Karisma for any wooly DK weight.

The gauge is 6 stitches per 1” using US 4 (3.75mm) needles and a 30” cable. This gauge is the same across both the stockinette and moss stitch portions.
