Santorini socks
The Santorini Socks are cozy, warm socks, quick to knit up, and with an easy and elegant colorwork detail. Their color palette recalls the dreamy blue and white scenery of the beautiful Greek island Santorini.
Techniques are well explained with links to tutorial videos. This makes the socks suitable for first-time sock knitters.
The socks are worked top-down on a 25cm/9in circular needle. The heel is constructed through a heel flap. The pattern can be easily adapted to be worked using the magic loop method, or using double pointed needles.
The length of the sock is adjustable to individual measurements.
Yarn
Main color: 1 skein of 7 Veljestä (7 Brothers) by Novita (75% wool, 25% polyamide; 200m/218yds per 100g/3.5oz). The sample uses color 047: Lichen (light gray).
Contrast colors:
-
30g/1.06oz of the first contrast color (cuff) in 7 Veljestä (dark blue in the sample, color 170: Navy)
-
12g/0.42oz of the second contrast color (leg detail) in 7 Veljestä (light blue in the sample, color 014: Ice)
Note: When you are using a different DK weight yarn, the grams/ounces you need might slightly differ.
The sock pattern is ideal to use up scrap yarn. Please make sure that your main color yarn is suitable sock yarn, for example with a synthetic component in it, to ensure its durability.
