Approximately 200 yards bulky yarn (shown in Rowan Alpaca Chunky) – Bulky yarn will result in a smaller cowl, super bulky will give you a larger one if you adjust your hook, yardage, and gauge

12mm hook for bulky yarn, or use size needed to obtain gauge
