Sarafina
This shawl was inspired by the woman I was named after, my great great grandmother, Sarafina. She married my great great grandfather Joseph in 1915 at the St. Anthony Of Padua Church in Chicago. Together they lived in a village called Kennsington and had a little business delivering booze. For one reason or another they decided to stop competing with a gentleman by the name of Al Capone for business, hopped the Milwaukee Railroad train West to Sioux City and settled down in a little farm house at the bottom of a big hill. This shawl features a gentle crescent shape with flowing pleats that border the base.
