When Sean and I lost our second daughter Adeline prematurely, I spent quite a bit of time sitting on the couch recovering. (I had pretty severe health complications.)
To help keep me busy, and to feel like I was “doing something” I started knitting baby hats for our local hospitals. I made up lots of patterns, and tried to create hats that were especially beautiful, sweet, or delicate. Some of these hats were designed for babies like our Adeline, who were too young/small to live outside the womb. My sister in law Sarah came to stay with us, and got in on the knitting action. She created a beautiful hat that became the prototype for this pattern.
