A Hat designed for my friend’s birthday. We both felt this pattern should be offered for free, so here it is!

Slouchy Hats are in fashion, and Garter Stitch slouchy Hats are the ‘must have’. What makes this Hat so special is the colour combination – how you use the yarns and colours and how you combine them creates this unique style.

The main PDF for this pattern is colour blind accessible. It uses black text on a white background and does not rely on colour.

Note
By using 2 strands of yarn held together – one 4ply/sock, the other DK/sport – we can build a beautiful Hat with graduating colours.

The 4ply yarn was the one constant throughout the Hat. Dyed as a semi-solid by BabyLongLegs, it created the base for all the other yarns to blend with. I recommend using a single yarn for the base, and a solid or semi-solid is ideal.

The 2nd strand, the DK/sports yarn, was created using oddments of yarn, all of the same weight and co-ordinating colours, joined together using the spit splice method. You can join them all together before you start, creating a skein to the approximate weight/yardage required, or you can join them as you go. I did the latter: I found it allowed me to be more creative with the placement of colours.
