Saranac
Saranac begins with the long, peaked border, worked side to side on a small number of sts. The border is then turned 90 degrees, and sts are picked up along the top edge of the border. The crescent shape is created with short rows that are worked in the body of the shawl.
Taking advantage of simple stitch patterns and a border that is worked sideways, the construction of Saranac shows off handspun, and hand-dyed yarns beautifully.
The Unwind Yarn Company Merino Roving used for the handspun sample in the photos was spun to a fingering weight yarn.
