Sardaukar
This is a tall cowl. Not a big cowl, or a bulky cowl … just tall. By combining mosaic color work with simple lace a fabric is created that allows the cowl to be collapsed down around your neck and ears to keep them snuggly and warm.
Worked in Obsidian and Burmese Ruby, the soft and deeply colored Baah! Yarn almost glows from within. There is a large palate of Baah! available and I cannot wait to see what combinations knitters choose.
Based on the mosaic pattern found in Golden Lion Throne this cowl finishes out my House Corrino series with the most infamous element of the house. The motif makes it easy to associate with the Emperor, but the solidity and function of the cowl is non-nonsense in its beauty.
As with all mosaic color work, you are knitting with only one strand of yarn at a time while strategically slipping yarn in the opposing color. Simple lace is worked a the same time, creating an intriguing effect that looks much harder than it actually is.
If you would like to see this cowl in action please check out its pattern tour video on my YouTube channel Watch Barbara Knit.
The pattern contains only charted instructions, there is not a written version.
