The poncho is a rectangle with an oval neck opening, composed
as follows:
first, you work two stripes made of granny square motifs
joined together as you work their last round using the single crochet join-as-you-go method. Then you add stripes of different colors, stitch patterns, and widths working in rows lengthwise along the granny square stripe’s edges, leaving a hole for the neck opening. To leave a hole for the neck opening, you break your work in two at the specified point, work the front and the back parts separately, then join them together in the center front/back of the garment. Then you attach fringe to the ends of the completed poncho body.
