Sasha the Summer Cat
Sasha loves everything about Summer. The heat, the beach and most of all swimming! She was designed for the #alltheseasonsCAL on Instagram, a celebration of all seasons, around the world.
Sasha is an intermediate amigurumi (crochet) pattern written in English using US (American) terminology. The pattern includes detailed instructions in an easy to follow layout but a knowledge of basic crochet stitches and techniques used to make amigurumi is essential.
Your tension, yarn thickness and hook size used will affect the size of your finished item. My Sasha is approx. 14cm tall (5 ½ inches).
You will need:
- 2.75mm hook/C-2 (US)
- 8ply yarns/DK or Light Worsted, less than 50g in GREY, PURPLE, PINK, BLUSH, CREAM and CHARCOAL
- 8mm safety eyes
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
- Polyester toy stuffing
- Stitch marker (optional)
Notes:
-
Amigurumi is usually stitched in the round and a yarn with no stretch is best.
-
Generally, the hook you use for amigurumi will be a smaller than for other crochet as you want the stitches tight.
-
I’ve used the following yarns: o GREY = Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Col. 404 Misty Grey o PURPLE = Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Col. 446 Pale Lilac o PINK = Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Col. 454 Blush Pink o BLUSH = Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Col. 451 Bubblegum Pink o CREAM = Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Col. 403 Champagne White o CHARCOAL = Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Col. 406 Slate Grey
-
I have used plastic safety eyes but you may choose to embroider the eyes. Please ensure that there are no loose fittings.
