A wonderfully slouchy cowl that can be doubled up to be extra warm or worn long for a great fall look. Sassenach is a great intro to cables, as it utilizes only one type of cabling technique. It produces a beautiful, classic double plaited pattern that recalls the Scottish Highlands of Outlander’s fierce heroine, Claire Fraser.

Yarn:
2 Skeins Bulky Weight yarn, 100 yds. each (pictured is Camellia Fiber Co.’s alpaca/merino wool Blend in Natural) I recommend a lovely solid or slightly heathered yarn for this project to highlight the strong cable motif, but feel free to choose your favorite!

Gauge:
23 stitches and 19 rows = 4” stockinette with US 10 (6.0 mm) needles

Tools Needed:
US 9 and US 10, 24” circular needles (or size needed to obtain gauge)
Cable Needle
Craft Needle (for weaving in ends)
