Sassy Socks
My daughter Sara’s nickname is Sassy. She asked me to knit her a sock that was short and sassy, something she could easily wear with leggings and Ugg boots. I came up with this pattern that knits a quick sock in worsted weight yarn.
You knit this sock from the cuff down on double-pointed needles. It has a reinforced slip-stitch heel, which is turned using short rows. The pattern comes in two sizes, small adult (like my Sassy) and medium adult (like her mom). Feel free to make any alterations you like. You can use Magic Loop or even two circular needles.
You also need to know that I knit very loosely (I guess I am a very relaxed knitter, and knitting relaxes me even more). You may need to go down a needle size (or even two sizes) to get gauge.
Materials:
Yarn: Worsted Weight – approximately 130 yards (119 meters) Remember, I am a loose knitter, so YMMV. The two sample sock pairs were knit with Miriymmy’s Kitchen Lux Worsted in the Face and Strange and the Changes colorways.
Needles: US 2 ½ (3mm) – set of double-pointed needles (you only need 4), or size needed to obtain gauge.
Gauge: 11 stitches and 17 rows = 5 cm (2 inches) in Stocking stitch (St st).
Finished size: About 8 (9) inches (20.5 23 cm) foot circumference and about 9 ½ (10 ¼) inches (24 26 cm) foot length from the back of the heel to the tip of the toe. To fit a small (medium) adult.
