Sativus
August’s project is a simple cotton apron perfectly at home in a summer kitchen. The pocket is big enough for a tablespoon or a flour scoop and the waistband loop lets you hang a towel or a big spoon. It’s a perfect match for Dukie’s cross-cut pickle, a Hastings family recipe.
Sativus comes from the latin for the cucumber. This apron starts with the i-cord waistband, stitches are picked up allowing for the loop. The body of the apron is knit down and the pocket is seamed on afterward.
Pattern Notes
I-cord tie is created first, stitches are picked up along center of tie leaving a loop for hanging tools. Stitches are knit back and forth with a cast on section in center to create a pleat.
