The Sauble Tank is named after Sauble Beach in Ontario, a place I frequented growing up. Sauble Beach sits on the land owned by the Saugeen First Nation.

The Sauble Tank is a top-down tank pattern. First, the back panel is worked flat with some simple shaping for the arm holes. Once the back panel is worked, it is left to rest. The left shoulder is then picked up and worked to create half of the scoop neck. The left panel is then put on hold. The right panel is then picked up and worked to create the other half of the scoop neck. Once the shoulders are done, the left and right panel are attached in the front and some shaping is done to finish the arm holes. The back and front panel are then attached in the round. You will continue knitting in the round until your desired length and finish off with some ribbing. To finish, the collar and arm holes are picked up and ribbing is added.

This top is intended to be worn cropped, but the body can be easily modified to your desired length.

Sizes: 1 (2, 3, 4, 5) (6, 7, 8, 9)

Finished bust circumference: 32 (36, 40, 44, 48) (52, 56, 60, 64) inches; 81 (91.5, 101.5, 112, 122) (132, 142, 152.5, 162.5) cm, including the intended ease of 10-15 cm / 4-6 inches

Armhole depth: 7.5 (8, 8.5, 9, 9.5) (10, 10.5, 11, 11.5) inches. 19 (20.5, 22, 23, 24) (25.5, 26.5, 28, 29) cm

Shoulder to hem length: 14.5 (15.25, 16, 16.75, 17.5) (18.25, 19, 20.25, 21) inches; 37 (39, 41, 42.5, 44) (46, 47.5, 49.5, 51) cm

Yarn:

Approximately 350 (383, 426, 460, 492) (536, 570, 613, 667) yards; 320 (350, 390, 420, 450) (490, 520, 560, 610) meters of DK weight yarn.
Sample: 3 (4, 4, 4, 5) (5, 5, 6, 6) balls of Sandnes Garn Line (53% Cotton, 33% Viscose, 14% Linen)

I recommend yarn with cotton, linen, or silk for the best drape. This top is intended to be worn cropped, but the body can easily be modified to your desired length. Please note: length will add to these yarn recommendations.

You will need:

4 mm (US 6) circular needle with cable length of 16 inches for neckline and arm ribbing
4 mm (US 6) circular needle with cable length of 40 inches for body ribbing
4.5 mm (US 7) circular needle with cable length of 40 inches for body
1 detachable stitch marker (like a lightbulb stitch marker)
8 stitch markers (of any kind!)
1 cable needle (optional, 1x1 cables can be done without one!)

Note: Needle size is a suggestion. Please use the needle which gives you the correct gauge.
I recommend using 1 needle size smaller for the ribbing than the body.

Tension: 17 sts x 25 rows per 4 inches / 10 cm in stockinette worked flat on larger needles. Swatches should be blocked for accurate results.
