Saundra’s Stocking is a versatile pattern that can be knit in a variety of yarns. Although gauge is not critical, yarn thickness and needle size will affect the size of the finished stocking.

Consider choosing bulky yarn and large needles to knit a stocking that can be stuffed chock full of large toys and treats for our large furry friends. At the other extreme, choose fingering weight yarn and small needles to knit a stocking sized for the little ones. Or choose something in between!

This design uses a minimum of three colors, but you can add as many as you like.

Finished stocking measures approximately 19” x 5.5”

Yarn
Its important to choose 3 strongly contrasting colors to make the patterns pop.
Lornas Lace Sheperd Worsted Solid
Color A-113 yds (103 m) or 57 g
Color B-90 yds (83 m) or 45 g
Color C-57 yds (52 m) or 28 g

Needles
Size US 7 (4.5 mm) 16-inch (41 cm) circular needle
for main part of stocking
Size US 7 (4.5 mm) 40-inch (102 cm) circular for the
picot cuff, toe decreases, and afterthought heel
Two size US 5 (3.75 mm) double-pointed needles for
hanging loop i-cord.

Note: To achieve a denser fabric, use a smaller needle size than you would normally use for your yarn weight.
