This step-by-step knitting pattern contains instructions to knit a cute dachshund pup with or without a colourful jumper- a lovely Christmas gift for dog lovers!

Knitted from chunky yarn on straight needles, there’s no working in the round. Pattern is suitable for knitters with just a little experience and uses increasing and decreasing stitches to shape- the body and head is knitted in one piece with the tail, legs and ears knitted separately and sewn on afterwards.

Dog is 30cm long when complete.

We used a ball of Stylecraft Special Chunky in Camel (1420) for the dog. For the (optional) jumper we used some Stylecraft Special Chunky in Matador Red (1010). You can of course use any colour chunky yarns you prefer. You’ll also need a pair of straight 4.5mm knitting needle, toy stuffing, darning needle, and a length of black chunky yarn for the eyes.
