This cap is constructed by knitting the cable section as a long strip, and grafting the beginning to the last row in pattern (detailed, illustrated instructions for this are included). Then stitches are picked up along each side edge to knit the crown and the lower edging. Three options are included for the lower edge: a garter stitch edge, a rolled edge, and a new bind-off that I unvented, which I call a braided bind-off (see closeup photo). The 11-page pattern contains both written and charted instructions for the cable strip, and written instructions for the rest of the cap. There is also a technique section which shows how to graft the stitches together in pattern.

Also needed for this pattern are a cable needle, a yarn needle, and a safety pin or safety pin-type stitch marker.

This pattern uses one skein of Patons Classic Wool.

The pattern is intended for the personal use of the purchaser, and is not meant to be used commercially.
