The faux-double-knit cowl structure has me kind of fascinated lately, so here’s another one!

Scaffolding Cowl combines an easy all-stockinette heavier portion (sport/dk weight Malabrigo Yarn Arroyo) and a lighter, decorative lace layer (sockweight yarn, shown in Malabrigo Yarn Sock). The contrast between the weights is appealing, but the thick yarn makes it warmer, too. So you have some lace, substance/structure, and warmth all in the same small project!

Oh! And it is reversible. That’s perhaps obvious, but a pretty vital element of it, too.

The sample uses Malabrigo Arroyo in Cirrus Grey and Malabrigo Sock in Indiecita.

** Materials:**
* 50g/165yds Malabrigo Yarn Arroyo (MC, sample shown in Cirrus Blue), 30g/140yds Malabrigo Yarn Sock (CC, shown in Indiecita)
116” circular needles in US5-6/3.75-4.0mm, or size needed for gauge

  • 1 spare circular needle, the same size as used for main work or a size smaller
  • Scrap yarn for provisional cast-on
  • Crochet hook, 3.75mm/size F
  • Tapestry needle
  • Removable stitch marker(s)

Gauge:
Gauge is 21 sts and 34 rows over 4”/10cm of blocked stockinette stitch, worked in the round. Please be sure to check your gauge!
