Scale Mail Gauntlets
This is my first ever pattern making available for others, I usually just keep them in my head! So feedback is welcome (although, please be kind!) and I will try to update as needed.
I put 127 for the yardage because that’s how many yards the skein I used was, but I didn’t use all of it, maybe 3/4 to make the pair. There was enough left over to make a small scale mail necklace as well but that was then the end of the skein.
These fit me very well (I wear a women’s medium in gloves), and because they’re meant to stretch to fit so that they’re snug, it means they’ll fit older children too, but won’t be snug. They few men I’ve asked to see if they can wear them, it was too small for them to get their hand in. I will be making a pair for a guy soon and I can update with exact numbers once I have them but I added my game plan for making them into the pattern notes if you’re want a head start.
I’ve knit many fingerless gloves patterns and this pattern was pulling in knowledge gained from many of them. There’s a link in the pattern for where I learned how to knit with the scales, and after making about a dozen dice bags with scales I wanted to try gloves. I liked how they turned out enough that I wanted to share the pattern. Happy knitting!
Silly Update:
If you want to see a pair of these in action my friend Andy wore the ones I made him in one of his YouTube videos!
