This is a sweet little infinity scarf that is perfect for the beginning knitter. In fact, the model pictured in this post knit the Scales scarf she is donning as her very first project. She said she couldn’t stop going, and if you can believe it, when she was done she confessed that she really loves purling…yes, “loves” purling.

And if you are beyond your novice days, think twice before you snub this simple pattern, it’s a perfect project to practice your no-looking knitting abilities. Take it with you to a movie and knit it up in the dark. Great way to knock out a few Christmas presents while you’re taking in the cinema…I plan to have mine in hand for the next flick I waltz into.

NOTE: In the first version of this pattern I suggested casting on with a larger needle. This seems to be unnecessary, and a bit too fiddly. So, as long as you use a stretchy cast-on method (Cable Cast-on recommended) and stretchy bind-off method (Russian Lace Bind-off recommended) you should be fine.
