Scaley Toque
I wanted to use up every yard of this gorgeous yarn. And, you know I love a cable especially with variegated yarn. For this hat, I paired bold, fat cables, garter stitch, and deep ribbing. The result is a highly textured and visual interesting hat. But, we need form and function! By knitting this piece on needles significantly smaller and creating a tighter gauge the finished piece is extra warm. The extra height allows a cute stand up styling and also you can fold the brim for 2 layers on your ears. With this much detail you’ll never be bored while knitting.
Details: The hat transitions smoothly from chunky ribbing to cable panels broken up by a neat panel of garter stitch. As designed, this hat should be worn as a close fitting beanie to keep your head and ears warm. It has plenty of stretch. Being knit from the brim up makes it easily customizable for the slouch. This hat is written in a single size but it should be worn with several inches of negative ease.
Size: Finished measurements are 17 circumference and 10” tall.
Yarn: 1 ball of Essence of Autumn Meadow in color Garden Party.
Needle: 1 set US #5 / 3.75mm DPNs or 16” long circular
