Scallop Stitch Cardigan
This is not a complete pattern but rather an example of how a selected stitch pattern may be used to make a simple crocheted cardigan (This is useful for those people who have stitch dictionaries and would like to use them to make finished items and garments).
First, a gauge swatch is made of the stitch pattern, then a schematic of the cardigan is drawn. A simple modification of the basic stitch pattern is made to make the collar of the cardigan.
The cardigan shown fits bust 35” and may be adjusted to fit any size following the gauge swatch to determine how many stitches and rows are needed to follow the measurements.
The cardigan is crocheted in rows from the bottom up, split for the armholes and back, then join at the shoulders. The collar, sleeve trim and ties are crocheted last.
