Scalloped Baby Hat with Ruffle Ties
A darling friend of mine is a photographer and wanted a hat to use for photo shoots that was girly and frilly. She saw a hat she loved and contacted the Etsy seller about it. The seller made flower pins and had no idea where the hat came from or how to find it, The picture was 4 years old! She called me ans asked me if I could make one like it. After searching for a pattern and not finding one like it anywhere. I had to design one from scratch to give her the hat of her dreams. Check out her work at

This hat is a quick crochet. It’s 9 simple rows and a simple to memorize pattern. The hat with ear flaps was about 40 mins. Each tie takes about 20 mins.
Yarn- Any aran or heavy worsted weight yarn. I used acrylic since she will be using it for photo shoots and will have to wash it a lot. I used With Love by Red Heart. It’s soft and comfortable. One skein made 2 hats with ear flaps and one set of 14” long ties. Each tie takes as much yarn as the hat with flaps. I still had some yarn left over too.
Size US 8/ H/ 5.00mm crochet hook
A darning needle to weave in ends.
The hat has optional ear flaps and optional ruffled ties that you can add or leave off.
NOTE- If you add the ties- make sure to supervise the baby wearing it at all times.
