Scalloped Clam Shells
Clams are wonderful at any time of the year. During the summer, you can go clamming and have them in a bake. In the winter, they are great to have in chowder. These amazing creatures have beautiful shells that have been used a currency in the past or jewelry.
This pattern is for toe up socks but can easily be reversed for a cuff down version. The options are: summer short sock or winter version with a longer leg.
One size – medium – 64 stitches but can be adapted to smaller or larger sizes by decreasing or increasing the number of knit stitches on the sides of the pattern. It is easily adaptable to a 56 st sock or even a 72 st sock.
Yarn suggestions: solid, tonal, semi-solid, lightly variegated, lightly striped
NOT SUITABLE FOR: heavily variegated (short colour changes), spotted, dark stripes, patterned yarn, or heavily striped
