Scandi Bloom DK Weight Cowl
There is now a fingering weight version of this pattern available. Purchase both the DK and Fingering weight versions at the same time for $12 with no code necessary.
Inspired by Scandinavian style botanical patterns and the blooms in a spring or summer garden, this tubular cowl is knit from a provisional cast on using stranded colorwork techniques. Kitchener stitch is used to close the tube forming a mobius style cowl.
I love styling this type of cowl because it’s so easy to wear and adds the perfect pop of color to your wardrobe. Grab a rich tonal for your main color and either 6 mini skeins/scraps or a single contrast color and get ready for some happy knitting.
I chose 6 lightly speckled DK mini skeins and one lush green full skein of DK for my original sample. This design also works well with 2 full skeins of DK, and I’ve seen several samples that used more textured mini skeins with great effect.
Don’t be afraid to hold fingering double if that’s what you have on hand. Just make sure you check your gauge because this pattern uses nearly all of 2 skeins of Delightful DK with 231 yards/100grams per skein.
Choose what makes you happy!
Scandi Bloom was originally designed for Olive Knits’ Knit Camp in September of 2022.
