Scandi Bloom Fingering Cowl
Inspired by Scandinavian style botanical patterns and the blooms in a spring or summer garden, this tubular cowl is knit from a provisional cast on using stranded colorwork techniques. Kitchener stitch is used to close the tube forming a mobius style cowl.
Both written and charted instructions are included in the pattern. The pattern includes two charts. One for a dark MC and one for a light MC, so you can choose what works best for your yarn choices.
The pattern includes links to my favorite tutorials for each of the skills needed to knit this pattern.
- Provisional Cast On
- Reading a Knitting Chart
- Catching Floats
- Kitchener Stitch in the round
I love styling this type of cowl because it’s so easy to wear and adds the perfect pop of color to your wardrobe.
I chose a lightly speckled full skein and one lush tonal full skein of fingering weight yarn for my sample. This design works well with high contrast tonals, or lightly speckled contrast colorways, as well as mini skeins for your contrast colors.
Choose what makes you happy!
There is a DK weight version available as well. If you purchase both cowls at the same time a discount will be applied to your cart automatically at check out.
Jana of Purl Together will be running a KAL for either version of Scandi Bloom in June, 2023 along with fresh tutorials for the techniques needed to knit this pattern. Visit her YouTube channel for information on how to participate and to view the tutorials.
