The Scandi Stashbuster Crochet Beanie Pattern is a simple top-down hat which can be made in a variety of colours and patterns to use up left over yarn. The opaque stitch pattern creates a super cosy and warm beanie to see you through the winter and beyond.
A free version of this pattern, in adult size only is available on the Dora does blog: https://doradoes.co.uk/portfolio/scandi-stashbuster-beani...
Skills
This is a relatively simple pattern once you get used to the increase pattern. You’ll need knowledge of basic crochet stitches and terminology and to know how to change colours.
The pattern requires working in rounds, rows, chain spaces and back loops. You’ll also skip rows when working in the brim.
Sizing
The pattern is written for 4 sizes from child to large adult. Approximate measurements of each size are given in the pattern.
Children, infants and babies should never be left unattended with pom poms, which can be a potential choking hazard, or whilst wearing this hat.
The instructions for the colourwork for each size are written separately for ease of reading. However, this is a stasbusting pattern so you can get creative with your own colour changes!
Materials
Hook: 4mm crochet hook, or size needed to obtain gauge
Yarn: You will need around 175-260m of fine dk, sport or 4ply yarn, which includes enough for a medium pom pom, depending on the size you’re working. Approximate meterage by size requirements is given in the pattern.
The yarn I have used is described as fine DK but my experience of working with it is that it’s closer to a typical 4ply / fingering weight yarn.
The pattern is written in English using standard US crochet terminology.
