What could be more festive than knitting your own Christmas ornaments? Make yourself some hot chocolate, grab your needles and yarn, snuggle up in your favourite chair and you’re all set to knit your own Christmas ornaments.

This pattern includes 4 different Fair Isle patterns, so you can knit 4 different designs in many different colour combinations and make your Christmas tree look extra special this year with beautiful Scandi style hand knitted ornaments!
You can see all the different designs in the pictures (snowflake, Christmas tree, hearts, and reindeer).

In the PDF pattern you will find the link to an exclusive video tutorial I recorded to accompany the written pattern. In the tutorial I walk you through the pattern and show you the techniques required.

You will learn how to:

• knit with multiple double pointed needles in a round
• increase (kfb)
• knit fair isle (stranded knitting) continental style (holding both yarn colours in your left hand)
• decrease (k2tog)

You will need the following materials for one ornament:

• 7 x 3mm/ US 2.5 double pointed knitting needles
• 1 x 8cm/3.15” shutterproof bauble (alternatively you could fill the ornament with toy stuffing)
• 20g/0.7oz skein DK / light worsted yarn in the main colour (I used Drops Merino Extra Fine yarn)
• 5g/0.18oz skein DK / light worsted yarn in the contrast colour (I used Drops Merino Extra Fine yarn)
• 1 stitch marker
• 1 x 25cm/10” ribbon

This is a great project for intermediate and practised knitters. If you have some experience with working in a round, increasing, decreasing, and fair isle knitting in two different colours, this will be a walk in the park for you. However if you haven’t done any or all of these techniques before, you will learn them watching the accompanying video tutorial.
